MEET LOREN

THE PEOPLE’S ADVOCATE.

Born at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, Loren Plank has called Ashland home since October 2019. Presently, he brings his passion for public service to life as an Alderman for the city of Ashland, a commitment he has honored since February 2023. A proud graduate of Westran High School in Huntsville, Missouri, Loren’s academic journey broke new ground in his family, leading him to be the first to achieve a bachelor’s degree.

His pursuit of excellence propelled him to North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by an enriching chapter at Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where he secured a Master of Business Administration in 2002. Loren’s professional trajectory spans significant roles in retail and warehouse management, including a decade of leadership at Hy-Vee in southern Iowa. Since relocating to Ashland in 2019, he has made his mark as a product and buying specialist at Graves Foods in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Loren’s lifelong fascination with politics morphed into active participation in 2020, culminating in his appointment as alderman for Ashland’s Ward #1 in February 2023. In this role, he also represents the city in the Ashland Betterment Coalition. Embracing the joys and challenges of political engagement with enthusiasm, he says: “I am having the time of my life.”

Beyond his official duties, Loren’s heart beats for community enrichment. In 2022, he founded the Ashland Skatepark Association, where he serves as the community liaison and grant writer. His spiritual life is deeply rooted in New Hope Baptist in Hartsburg, where he teaches adult Sunday School and shares his musical talents. As the treasurer of the Heart of Missouri Baptist Association and a member of the Ashland Optimist Club, Loren’s dedication to service spans multiple facets of community life.

Loren’s personal life is as rich and fulfilling as his professional and civic engagements. He shares his life with Emily, a Special Education teacher at Southern Boone County Schools, and is a devoted father to an expanding family, with Ezekiel, Anna, Jonathan, Mikaela, Matthias, Jazzper, Gideon, Leilani, Jessica, and Cassidy bringing joy and inspiration to his journey. Loren and Emily eagerly anticipate the arrival of their second child on August 4th.

Loren Plank’s story is one of dedication, service, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of Ashland. His diverse experiences, both professional and personal, underscore his readiness to lead and inspire as Mayor.
